Pathetic Confession #6

This billboard was posted near the freeway on my way to work for quite some time:

Does anyone else find this to be slightly dirty? Or is it just me? Anyone? No?

Okay then. Never mind...

Pathetic Confession #4

Every once in a while I do this weird thing.  I will stay up really late on a work night. Like REALLY late. Like I got an hour and a half of sleep last night late. And I am never doing anything of any value. Usually it involves watching infomercials or YouTube videos. Last night I was reading a year's worth of someone's blog (more on that tomorrow). And there is no sane reason for me to do this. The little voice in the back of my head is saying, "GO TO BED!" But the part of me that is mildly entertained just ignores it. I've even had to pee like crazy, and still won't get off the couch because if I do, I know it will cause me to stop doing whatever pointless activity I'm doing and actually get some sleep.

I have a theory on why this happens. Two actually. The first is that I am just a big whiny baby who likes to stay up late. But really I think it's that if I go to bed, it will much more quickly become tomorrow. And then I will have to deal with THINGS. Like laundry and groceries and cleaning the bathroom. And getting up early in the morning to go to work. Which I must say is REALLY hard to do when you've stayed up until 5 a. m. For. No. Good. Reason.

So, of course, I am super tired tonight and barely managed to do one load of laundry (which involves no less than 6 trips up or down the thirty-seven stairs to the basement and outside into the cold to reach it. (Oh, woe is me! Umm, I just had to refer to the dictionary for this statement. I originally typed "whoa is me." Duh.) Anyway, I have such a hard time facing up to stuff I just don't want to do. It's so much easier to bury myself in a book, or the computer or some lame TV. I keep thinking, hmm, I'm forty. When does the adult behavior show up? Because, really, I should be able to deal with my boring and tedious responsibilities by now and just get over it, right? No one ever died from washing a pot, did they?

Speaking of which, I have to go fold some clothes and go to bed. Early meeting tomorrow, and did I mention my hour and a half of sleep last night? Sigh. Some day when I grow up...

Pathetic Confession #3 and Apology

Okay, so here's the thing. I have an obsessive personality. I find something that interests me, and it's all I can think about or focus on for an indiscriminate period of time. I can spend literally hours thinking about and researching the current infatuation. My brain wants to be completely immersed in it. Then I'm over it and I move on to the next thing that catches my fancy. Since he doesn't read my blog, I blame it on my Dad, who also demonstrates this trait.

Which leads me to the apology part. I am so sorry, internetland, to have neglected you for SO VERY LONG. I have heard your whining cries of neglect and am here to beg for your forgiveness and offer my most heartfelt apology for ditching you these last few months. I hope all five of you will find it in your hearts to give me another chance and not delete me from your Favorites, as has been frequently threatened the last few weeks. I am truly sorry for moving on to my next obsession and not taking you with me.

I have had to make some choices about how I am spending my time. Therefore, I will only be blogging about 3 times a week. More if something exciting comes up. I am truly trying to find more balance in my life, and spending an hour on the blog every night is just not working for me. I hope you will hang in there as I figure out how to share with you and still have time left for me. Thanks so much for your patience!

p.s. It's Spring Break this week. Whoo-hoo! So check in Monday for a new post.

Pathetic Confession #2

I have an unhealthy obsession with Hostess Frosted Donettes. Which I refer to as Wax Doughnuts. They sold them in our college food service and I've been hooked ever since. Every time I go grocery shopping, these somehow sneak into my cart when I'm not looking. And then they jump in my mouth. Repeatedly. Bad, evil donettes. Get off my hips!

Go ahead people. Judge away.

Pathetic Confession #1

I am addicted to Hallmark made for TV movies. Ones with bad plots. That always have happy endings. And hot male leads. Especially Andrew McCarthy.

Feel free to judge me. I would.
